Exploring the Bamboo Trail, Dagat-Dagatan Trail & Fishpond

Embarking on the trail adventure at EPIC PARC is an achievement in itself. While Tanay boasts numerous hiking destinations, this one stands out for its uniqueness. Trekking along the bamboo trail within the expansive 280-hectare rainforest is a truly remarkable experience.

The bamboo trail is best enjoyed in the morning and typically takes 1 to 2 hours to complete. Guests staying in cabin accommodations can coordinate their trail adventure at the office, conveniently located near the cabins and the jump-off point. The initial part of the trail follows a well-defined path surrounded by diverse plant and tree species until you reach the bamboo trail entrance, marked by a small “kubo” (hut). The bamboo trail features thousands of bamboo trees meticulously preserved and protected by EPIC PARC. Along the trail, you’ll encounter established wooden pathways and a narrow water stream known as “sapa.” What makes this trail truly captivating is the abundant and diverse life it showcases, from various plant species and vibrant flowers to insects, birds, and towering trees.

While the trail is considered a minor trek and suitable for beginners, it’s essential to come prepared with appropriate trail attire, such as trekking sandals or shoes and comfortable clothing. Much of the trail is shaded by trees, but some sections, particularly the wooden pathways and rocks along the water stream, can become slippery. The bamboo trail eventually intersects with the Dagat-Dagatan trail, which leads back to the jump-off point. Before returning, taking a moment to visit the fishpond and rice fields is well worth it. Guests interested in fishing can bring their fishing gear, and they will settle their catch’s payment at the office. The fishpond is home to catfish, tilapia, golden tilapia, and other native fish species. It serves as a natural flowing water source, also contributing to the irrigation of nearby rice fields.

Twin Lawauan

A quick sidetrip to Twin Lawauan is an excellent addition to your EPIC PARC experience. This name refers to the enormous twin lauan trees positioned at the forest’s edge, offering a breathtaking view of Laguna de Bay and the surrounding forest. Twin Lawauan has gained popularity as a filming location for various film and TV productions, including “2 Good 2 Be True” and “Maria Clara,” among others.
