If you read the reviews online, there’s a mix of bad and good reviews for Casa Alegria and the only way to prove it is to experience it ourselves. We will try to breakdown every detail and give our honest review based from our own experiences with Casa Alegria.

Accessibility
Casa Alegria is originally a family rest house turned bed & breakfast. It is located in Ligaya Drive, Sungay North Tagaytay. Its location is away from the noisy and busy part of Tagaytay and surrounded by trees and foliage with exceptionally rewarding view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.
The spot is perfect especially if you want a quiet and intimate staycation in Tagaytay, but getting here is a little challenge. There would be downhill and uphill drive with sharp curves to overcome. If you experience driving going up Baguio or loops in Tanay, Rizal then this won’t be a problem. And also, you can always choose to slow down if you experience difficulties.
For public transportation, we haven’t seen any jeepney or van with trips going to this route, so if you plan to visit here, renting a tricycle would be your option.
Water Supply
We noticed that sometimes the water supply is interrupted, but it doesn’t take long to return to normal. There were complaints before on having low reserve or no supply at all at a given time. As per our experience, there was interruption but that’s for a very short time. They have water tanks assigned for each room so water supply is not an issue anymore.
Insects and Spiders
Yes, there are spiders and bugs around Casa Alegria. We even found this bug crawling in our room. But given its location that is bounded by greens and trees, we think its normal to encounter these little neighbors. It doesn’t bother us at all, we just left them be and enjoy every moment of silence and total relaxation.
Restaurant Charges and Meals
We want to make this straightforward, the availability of menus are limited. We were craving for pizza and pasta for dinner but sadly these are not available given it’s a Saturday. We settled in with “Kansi” it is like their local “sinigang” in Tagaytay and it’s not bad at all. The menus are somehow pricey plus expect the 10% service charge and 12% VAT on top of it. Better to share the expenses with your group but the best option here is to buy extra snacks and drinks before you get in the place so you don’t need to buy everything in the resto. If you buy drinks outside, make sure to get ice as well. We tried to ask for ice from the staff but with no avail. Corkage was never mentioned in their site so we think it’s free to bring your own food and drinks, just like we did.
Internet and Network Connections
Casa Alegria provides free wifi access. There is also network signal but with some weak spots. There is no landline here, so your mobile phones are your best options to reach outside world. You can still access your social media given the signals but as much as possible, try to disconnect and enjoy your moment of uninterrupted staycation.
Parking Space
They have a very limited parking space in front of the restaurant that can accommodate up to 3 cars. We forgot to ask if there are other parking spaces nearby. If you plan to book with them, better to ask this information so you won’t worry about your car.
Now, I guess we have more than enough information about Casa Alegria. It is time to reveal what other attractions and amenities they can offer.
The Rooms
This is the reason why we booked with Casa Alegria. The room has a superb view of Taal Lake on their wide glass window. Imagine yourself sipping your coffee or waking up in the morning with such an amazing view? This is definitely the main highlight of this Bed & Breakfast.
Aside from the scenic view, the room has its own shower and toilet, comfortable bed and sofa, cabled TV, AC and beautiful flooring, painted walls and huge curtain. It feels homey in a classy backdrop. There is no regret in booking this lovely Superior Queen room. It comes with free breakfast for two.

Manage your booking in advance as the rooms gets fully booked fast especially during weekends and peak seasons. And ideally, better to book online like in Agoda, Booking.com, TripAdvisor and Trivago to get lower booking rates. Price ranges from Php4,000 up to Php9,000.
View Deck
To get a panoramic view of Taal Lake, make sure to visit the view deck or roof deck that is just a stair-hike away from the restaurant. You can choose to dine here and enjoy the fresh morning air and sunshine while enjoying the magnificent view of Taal Lake.

Almost always, if someone were looking for a place to stay, they normally would ask if there is a pool. Casa Alegria is proud to offer the infinity pool to their guest. Enjoy swimming and chilling with your partner or family with the same superb view of Taal.

We enjoyed our stay in Casa Alegria and were amazed with the room and its scenic view. We came here to relax and they just given us that. They may not be perfect in all aspects but they are definitely worth staying.
How To Get There
Private Transportation (Source: Casa Alegria)
ROUTE 1:
Enter the Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) or popularly known as the Coastal road. Drive towards General Emilio Aguinaldo Highway (the main rotunda of Tagaytay City). Look for Ligaya Drive located in front of Tagaytay Elementary School; keep going straight and you will pass by Balai Taal. When you reach Sungay North you will find Manggahan (the popular landmark of Casa Alegria).
ROUTE 2:
Take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and exit at Sta. Rosa. Turn right upon leaving the Sta. Rosa toll and head straight to Tagaytay City. That road is the Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay National Road, which ends at the rotunda near Tagaytay City Public Market. Turn right to get to the General Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. Look for Ligaya Drive located in front of Tagaytay Elementary School; keep going straight and you will pass by Balai Taal. When you reach the Sungay North you will find Manggahan (the popular landmark of Casa Alegria).
Public Transporation
- Ride a bus that is passing to Tagaytay. There are buses around Cubao and Pasay with regular trip schedules going to this place.
- Ask the driver to drop you off at Olivarez Terminal Tagaytay.
- From here, ride a jeep to Ligaya drive. Landmark is Tagaytay Elementary School.
- From here, you can ride a tricycle from Manggahan and ask the driver to take you to Casa Alegria.
