Capiz is known as the Seafood Capital of the Philippines. The abundance of marine life like crabs, oysters, shrimps and other seafood made the place popular to people who enjoys this kind of cuisine.
The province celebrate their annual Capiztahan Festival during month of April showcasing the richness of its aquamarine resources. Aside from seafood, the festival will promote other local products and crafts, street dance competitions, sports fest and other exciting activities.
Having this in mind, we looked for other interesting things to do around the province. In our surprise, we discovered The Ruins of Alcatraz.
If you are a fan of Maze Runner or the anime titled Attack on Titan, surely you will love to visit this place someday.
Ruins of Alcatraz
The ruins can be found in Brgy. Culasi, Sitio Nipa in Roxas City, Capiz. Based from the information we gathered, the ruins are remnants of the supposedly resort to be built by Bermejo family. Unfortunately, it was unfinished and abandoned.
The place is naturally weathered and tested by time giving it a surprisingly ancient vibe. Not to mention it stands just near the beach. On the other hand, the gigantic walls for us are comparable to that of Attack on Titan anime featuring the walls – Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sheena.
Portraying as one of the characters is perfect on this location. The scattered boulders made it even realistic!
How To Get There
- From Capitol, Roxas City, walk to Burgos street where the tricycle terminal going to Brgy. Culasi is located.
- Ask the driver to drop you off at the crossing Nipa.
- Walk for a few minutes to get to the ruins.
What To Expect
The ruins is awesomely beautiful and unique. This could be a cinematic venue for a scene in a movie or even a prenup for imaginative minds. Conversely, getting to this place could be a surprise for other people. You might expect that it was hidden and somehow inaccessible but it is not. Expect other people to be present especially when you’re trying to perfect your shot. It was a challenge at times! But the thing is, the place has no entrance fee, that gives everyone the freedom to witness it.
